Unity Physician Group Selects LYNX Medical Systems Healthcare Information Management Software

LYNX healthcare information technology is key to patient tracking and professional coding for ambulatory facilities

March 2, 2004—Bellevue, WA—Unity Physician Group (UPG) has partnered with LYNX Medical Systems to streamline processes through the use of LYNX healthcare information technology. UPG will implement LYNX patient tracking and professional CPT and ICD-9 coding software solutions in ambulatory centers located in Indiana. The agreement between UPG and LYNX was signed in the fourth quarter of 2003.

LYNX E/Map patient tracking software enhances the patient tracking and documentation process at UPG ambulatory clinics. E/Map documents each encounter to provide a revenue stream closely aligned with patient acuity. This software program provides UPG with dynamic problem specific, age-and sex-appropriate patient forms, generated from a clinical knowledge database. The forms are also barcoded for documentation management. E/Map templates assist the provider in documenting care and later, aid in supporting appropriate assignment of codes that accurately reflect provided services.

LYNX E/Code professional CPT and ICD-9 code assignment software assists UPG in capturing appropriate charges. E/Code provides UPG with streamlined workflow and simultaneous on-line record viewing and coding. This software module also creates an automatic audit trail which tracks the coding process, promoting coding compliance.

“Unity Physician Group has been looking for ways to streamline the flow of paper and the coding and billing process,” said Dr. Michael D. Bishop, UPG president/CEO. “In today’s healthcare environment, we have to cut costs, but not quality and efficiency. LYNX has provided us with an outstanding tool to give us more information, make us more efficient and eliminate a lot of paper.”

Unity Physician Group, a physician-owned and physician-led health care organization, is among the largest single provider of emergent and urgent medical services in Indiana. Established in 1971, the group currently staffs five emergency departments in Indiana and several other facilities in neighboring states.
