Children's Health Services Chooses LYNX Internet-Based Medical Record Viewing Tool
LYNX M/View offers 24x7 remote record viewing to clinicians
February 18, 2005 —Bellevue, WA—LYNX Medical Systems today announced that an agreement had been reached with Children’s Health System (CHS) in Alabama. LYNX will implement M/View online remote viewing software at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. The agreement also includes an upgrade to Children’s existing LYNX E/Map patient tracking and documentation software. The contract was signed in the fourth quarter of 2004.
LYNX M/View Internet-based remote record viewing tool will enable CHS clinicians to easily utilize secure Internet access to electronic patient records. Sharing electronic patient records offers CHS immediate, real-time patient information at the point-of-care, while securing long-term cost-efficiencies by eliminating the time delays and expense of obtaining and distributing paper records. This LYNX software tool will also provide CHS the ability to share records electronically with their current outside billing services. LYNX M/View will provide CHS improved efficiencies, streamlined workflow and reduced costs.
"Currently, we fax and batch print records, which is time consuming and costly. In fact, we employ one full-time person who just faxes documents,” said Jennifer Brown, RN at Children’s Hospital Emergency Department. “We’re looking forward to the many benefits M/View has to offer, including the workflow efficiencies and immediate access to patient records.”
Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, founded in 1911, is a private, not-for-profit 225-bed pediatric hospital and a component of Children’s Health System. In 2003, Children’s had more than 650,000 patients visits and 53,246 visits to the level-one Emergency Department. Children’s was also named one of America’s 100 “most wired” hospitals by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine.
“By embracing technology, CHS will enhance patient care and improve workflows with immediate patient record access,” said Mike DeTolla, president of LYNX Medical Systems Software. “We are pleased to be a partner with this well respected pediatric healthcare facility.”
