"LYNX for Life" Team Race for the Cure

LYNX employees exceed fundraising goal for Susan B. Komen 2005 Seattle Race for the Cure

June 8 , 2005 —Bellevue, WA—LYNX Medical Systems employees, family and friends raised more than $2,300 for the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by participating in the 2005 Komen Race for the Cure held in Seattle, Washington on Saturday, June 4. As of June 7, 2005, the Foundation’s Seattle Affiliate estimated that 13,000 people participated in the event with 220 teams, raising more than $1.2 million.

The LYNX team, named LYNX for Life, was due to the efforts of LYNX employee, Jennifer Muller. Muller orchestrated LYNX employee participation in the fundraising event, and continuously championed for donations to support the Foundation. Muller led the team on the 1K walk that began at 8 am Saturday morning on Royal Brougham Way, dividing Safeco and Qwest Fields. The LYNX for Life team consisted of Jennifer Muller, Chérie Blehm, Angi Blehm, Leslie Bush, Annie McGreevy Florer, Doug Florer, Renee Kiss, Robert McGreevy, MD, Kathy Miller, Roxann Moorhead, Kim Newman, and Kathi and Bill Walker.

“On behalf of the team, I want to thank everyone for their continued support and generosity,” said Jennifer Muller. “This cause is especially important as breast cancer has touched nearly everyone at some time. Through this race, we support and celebrate breast cancer survivors, especially the survivors here at LYNX.”

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded on a promise made between two sisters – Susan G. Komen and Nancy Brinker. Susan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1978 and died at the age of 36. Nancy Brinker established the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in her sister’s memory.
