American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Reappoints Candace Shaeffer of LYNX Medical Systems to National Advisory Committee
Shaeffer assigned to subcommittee of ACEP Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee (CNAC)
August 1, 2006—Bellevue, WA—LYNX Medical Systems (LYNX), the leading provider of emergency medicine documentation and revenue management solutions, today announced that Candace Shaeffer, RN, MBA, RHIA has been reappointed to the national American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee (CNAC). Shaeffer currently serves LYNX in the role of vice president of Coding Policy and is responsible for leading compliance initiatives.
Shaeffer has an extensive history with ACEP, serving on the CNAC committee since 1999. She has made a variety of contributions to ACEP, including serving as a CNAC subcommittee chair in two of the years of her tenure. In addition to her continuing position with the ACEP Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee, Shaeffer has served as a faculty member for the ACEP Emergency Department Coding conferences that are held twice yearly.
Shaeffer is a member of both Washington State and National Associations for Healthcare Quality, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is on the clinical faculty of the Health Information Administration Program at the University of Washington, writes articles for the HCPro monthly APC Publications in addition to her teaching for the ACEP Coding & Reimbursement Seminars.
Shaeffer manages all aspects of LYNX coding policy. Prior to stepping into her current role, Shaeffer held the position of vice president, Coding Operations/Quality Management at LYNX. Shaeffer has also assisted with clinical product development, marketing and beta test implementation for LYNX E/Map clinical documentation and patient tracking software. She has more than 20 years of clinical expertise, extensively in the emergency department setting, as well as 16 years of nursing management experience. Before joining LYNX in 1997, Shaeffer was a case manager for CCU, ICU and Telemetry patients at Swedish Medical Center. Shaeffer received her BSN from the University of Washington and her MBA from Seattle University.
