Picis Extends Market Leadership with Surge in LYNX E/Point Contracts
Healthcare systems use revenue management solution to promote quick, compliant and accurate ED charging
December 16, 2009 — Wakefield, MA — Picis today announced that during the past two quarters 67 healthcare facilities, representing more than 2.5 million annual emergency department (ED) patient visits, have selected Picis LYNX E/Point®, the market-leading healthcare revenue management solution (RMS). LYNX E/Point is designed to help the EDs of these leading provider organizations increase their revenue—in fact, it has been shown to increase ED revenue an average of $34 per patient visit. The easy-to-use SaaS solution enables ED clinicians to accurately capture procedure charges and calculate facility visit levels automatically as part of their clinical documentation processes. The result is consistent and defensible visit-level scoring, which preserves ED revenue and promotes compliance of charges for emergency care. LYNX E/Point is used by more than 500 hospitals to manage and charge for more than 21 million emergency and outpatient visits annually.

Hospitals Selecting LYNX Revenue Management Solutions
The growth of the LYNX revenue management user community has come from four sources: the signing of new customers; the expansion of LYNX E/Point sites integrated with Picis ED PulseCheck®, the company’s market-leading emergency department information system (EDIS); the expansion of E/Point to additional hospitals within integrated delivery networks (IDNs) or health systems; and the standardization of LYNX solutions for outpatient charging across emergency departments and hospital-based clinics.
- New E/Point Signings—Building on the momentum of signings in the first half of 2009, a growing number of health systems have selected LYNX E/Point for revenue management of the ED. These include: St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers, Indianapolis, Ind.; St. Francis Hospital Mooresville, Ind.; Presbyterian Healthcare Services, Albuquerque, N.M.; Community Medical Center, Missoula, Mont.; Signature Hospital Corporation, Houston, Tex.; St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital, Standish, Mich.; Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D.; Women's Christian Association of Jamestown New York (WCA Hospital); St. Alexius Medical Center (Alexian Brothers), Hoffman Estates, Ill.; Shannon Medical Center, San Angelo, Tex; Grace Medical Center, Lubbock, Tex; and Mercy Philadelphia Hospital.
- Customers Integrating LYNX with ED PulseCheck—Several existing Picis customers have added the LYNX E/Point charging methodology to their Picis EDIS solutions. This provides a seamless flow of information from ED PulseCheck to E/Point for complete documentation with optimized revenue capture for the emergency department. This combined solution offers automated charge capture, consistent and compliant E/M level calculation and coding integration—all driven by clinical documentation. These customers include: Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Newton, Mass.; Greenville Hospital System, S.C.; Community Memorial Hospital, Ventura, Calif.; Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson,, Kan.; Cottage Health System, Santa Barbara, Calif.; Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, Ill.; and Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown, Pa.
- LYNX C/Point Signing—LYNX C/Point extends accurate charging to the entire outpatient population, enabling healthcare organizations to provide defensible facility visit levels for hospital-owned clinics and urgent care centers. This combined solution is designed to lower ECMC’s risk of missed charges and inconsistencies, and increase while increasing compliance of charging across the healthcare system, which helps to mitigate the risk of take-backs during audits. Recently, Indiana Regional Medical Center; Indiana, Pa. selected LYNX E/Point and C/Point solutions.
LYNX E/Point uses a weight-based methodology to calculate charges for ED patients based on patient acuity and services rendered. It standardizes and streamlines ED charging at one or more sites with a proven algorithm that can help improve hospital compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, while also providing financial predictability of charges for emergency care.
Automating more than 30 million ED patient visits annually in more than 700 hospitals throughout North America, Picis provides integrated clinical information and financial management tools for improving hospital operations and increasing patient satisfaction in the ED, outpatient clinics and beyond.
