Coding Review Services
Objective, Outsourced Coding Quality Management
LYNX Coding Review Services are designed to address coding and charge assignment from a compliance standpoint. The coding audits and education included with this service make up an essential component of a compliance program. This service helps hospitals ensure that coding staff are current on documentation and coding guidelines, evaluate how well coding staff are adhering to performance standards, and identify documentation and coding/charge assignment habits that may lead to less-than-optimal financial performance or allegations of fraud and abuse.
Deliverables
Monthly coding audits: LYNX’s Quality Management team will review clinical documentation and hospital-assigned codes for one day’s outpatient visits per month and provide clients with a monthly report of coder accuracy and recommendations.
Ongoing coder education: representatives from LYNX’s Quality Management team will conduct a one-day coding refresher course annually, including provision of course materials. LYNX’s Quality Management team will develop course curriculum that addresses the issues and concerns brought to light in the preceding year’s monthly coding audits.
Coder reference materials: LYNX will provide updates to the LYNX Reference Manual for Emergency Department Coding for up to five reference manuals.
LYNX Coding Help Desk: LYNX will provide assistance (up to four hours per month) on questions specific to coding for emergency medicine through the LYNX Coding Help Desk. LYNX’s Coding Help Desk is accessible Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, excluding LYNX holidays.
Ongoing updates: LYNX will provide clients with a monthly coding mailing intended to keep them informed of industry changes, LYNX coding policy changes, and other items of interest related to coding for emergency medicine.
