Online charge assignment: Nursing staff or charge specialists (whomever the hospital designates as responsible for ED charge assignment) will utilize E/Point's easy-to-use functionality to assign charges online. E/Point will prompt for indication that specific work was performed or that resources were used and users will mark elements as appropriate and as reflected in nursing notes.
Visit level assessment/billing: E/Point will automatically calculate the weight of each patient's presenting problem with each element marked by the nurse or charge specialist. The resulting value is associated with a visit level. Visit level codes and assigned procedures can be automatically sent to the hospital billing system via a charge interface.
